Sun acting managing editor role handed to Dinsmore

THE former editor of The Scottish Sun has been appointed acting managing editor of the newspaper, UK-wide.

David Dinsmore – who is currently general manager for the paper’s publishers, News International, in Scotland – has been handed the role for an estimated three months.

It is to provide cover for Richard Caseby – the present managing editor – who is being seconded full-time, for the next three months, to the News International team preparing submissions and responses to the Leveson Inquiry into press standards.

The Sun’s UK-wide editor is Dominic Mohan and Dinsmore’s role will concern legal, budget and HR issues.

Meanwhile, Oliver Keenaghan will take over from Dinsmore in Scotland – also on an interim basis – and will continue in his role as general manager of News International’s Ireland operation.
