Scotsman’s Daily Novel to be turned into Radio 4 series

A ‘DAILY novel’ published in The Scotsman is to be turned into a BBC Radio 4 series.

Comprising daily episodes and written by the world-renowned Scots novelist, Alexander McCall Smith, ’44 Scotland Street’ is about life in Edinburgh’s New Town.

The Scotsman is reporting that broadcast slots have already been scheduled: from Monday, April 30 at 10.45am, during Woman’s Hour, with repeats at 7.45pm.

Says the paper: “The scripts for the five 15-minute episodes will be based on the first book in the series, written for The Scotsman eight years ago. If the first batch prove popular, other books in the series could be adapted.”

Today’s edition of 44 Scotland Street is volume eight, episode 34.
