Daily Record appoints Clegg as new political editor

THE Daily Record has appointed David Clegg as its new political editor.

Clegg is to join from The Courier to succeed Magnus Gardham, who is moving to The Herald to become political editor, following the recent retirement of Brian Currie who has set up a PR and media consultancy.

Says a staff memo from the Record’s editor-in-chief, Allan Rennie: “David joins us from the Dundee Courier where he has worked for the last five years covering Holyrood and Tayside. Along with Torcuil [Crichton, Westminster editor] and Mark [Aitken, political editor at sister title, the Sunday Mail], he will make a valuable contribution to our titles as we build up to one of the most important political periods in our history.

“David, who will be based in Dundee and Edinburgh, joins us on August 27.”
