University appointment for former Daily Record health correspondent

A FORMER health correspondent at the Daily Record newspaper has been appointed in the media department of a Scots university.

Lachlan Mackinnon has been taken on as a communications officer at Strathclyde University. Until last month, he was communications manager, on a fixed five-month appointment, at the inaugural Edinburgh International Culture Summit, an event hosted at the Scottish Parliament and organised by the Scottish Government, UK Government, British Council and Edinburgh International Festival.

Prior to that, when he was health correspondent at the Daily Mirror, which he joined from the Record.

He told allmediascotland that he began what turned out to be almost a decade with Record and Mirror publishers, Trinity Mirror, as a trainee reporter via a scholarship set up in memory of the late First Minister, Donald Dewar.

At the Record, he also worked as a weekend sub-editor on the Sunday Mail’s sports desk.
