Regional editorships for Crawford and Quigley at Clyde Weekly Press

A FORMER editor of the Clydebank Post newspaper is returning after 11 years, to take up a regional editorship with the paper’s publishers.

Graham Crawford is one of two senior appointments at Clyde Weekly Press as part of a re-structuring, with Emma Quigley the other.

Both Crawford and Quigley have been named regional editors, with Crawford responsible for the management of content, production and presentation – both in print and online – of the Clydebank Post, Barrhead News and The Gazette, as well as any associated magazines or free titles.

Similarly, Quigley will have the same role at the Dumbarton and Vale of Leven Reporter and Helensburgh Advertiser.

Says Clyde Weekly Press managing editor, Martin Little: “I am confident that both Emma and Graham will cope with the challenges set by this demanding role, and I am certain that their colleagues will join with me in wishing them every success in these important positions.”

Quigley joined the Dumbarton and Vale of Leven Reporter and the Helensburgh Advertiser in January ten years ago, at the age of 19. At the former, she then moved through the ranks – from reporter, to senior reporter, to news editor and finally as editor.

She then left the paper in January to take up the role of head of digital for the Clyde Weekly Press titles.

She told allmediascotland.com: “I’m really looking forward to my new role, I am part of a great team who all have a passion for local news. It’s an exciting time for me and the company and I am grateful for the opportunity. I am from Dumbarton originally, and now living in the Vale of Leven, and I’ve always been proud to work on my local paper, serving the community in which I live.”

She added: “I am looking foward to returning to the Helensburgh Advertiser, which has such a long and respected history in the town.”

Fast-growing circulation at the Clydebank Post during his first spell at the paper, Crawford puts down to “a vibrant and talented staff of young reporters, including Mark Daly, now a leading BBC Scotland investigative reporter, and a top circulation manager, Kenny McCallum”.

Says Crawford, he went on to edit The Lennox Herald for more than four years before the post was made redundant. He added: “Again, I was blessed with an excellent young team of reporters.”

He was subsequently chief reporter at the Highland News, deputy editor of the Oban Times, and chief district reporter of the Banffshire Journal.

Crawford continued: “Not surprisingly, I have been told I am Scotland’s most-travelled journalist. Previous titles I have worked for, in a loosely chronological order, include the Ayrshire Post, Irvine Herald, Stirling Observer (twice), Dumfries and Galloway Standard (twice), East Kilbride News, Rutherglen Reformer, Cumbernauld News (twice), the Daily Winner and the Falkirk Herald.”
