PPA Scotland head stepping down, to become publishing consultant

THE head of the Scottish division of magazine publishers body, the Professional Publishers Association, is stepping down from the role at the end of this month.

Kathy Crawford Hay joined PPA Scotland nine years ago to launch the Scottish Magazine Awards.

Three years later, she then launched the Scottish School Magazine Competition.

And this year, she signed off by creating the inaugural Edinburgh International Magazine Festival, MAGFEST, which took place during August.

She is setting herself up as an independent consultant. Her successor, Nikki Simpson, has been already working on Scottish PPA business for several weeks.

Crawford Hay told allmediascotland.com: “The role of business manager for PPA Scotland has been one of the most interesting and rewarding jobs I have ever had. It has been a real pleasure working with so many creative and entrepreneurial people and to know that the magazine industry in Scotland continues to thrive. I have especially valued my time working with students and school pupils as they will be the life-blood of the industry in the future.”

Simpson was previously at Edinburgh-based design and publishing agency, White Light Media.
