Traynor turns on Thomson over blog claims

THE former Daily Record journalist, Jim Traynor, has attacked the chief correspondent on Channel 4 News, Alex Thomson, over claims made by the latter, in a blog.

Traynor, now head of communications at Rangers FC, has taken issue with Thomson over a claim that former Rangers owner, Craig Whyte, had been sent by email an article by the former football writer “for prior editorial approval before it went into the newspaper”.

Traynor responds: “The email was sent not because Whyte was being given editorial approval, as Thomson appears to be making out, but because I wanted Whyte to see the figure [that was going to be used in the article, to make it hard to later deny].”
