A FORMER crime correspondent for the Sunday Mail and The Scottish Sun newspapers, has taken on a new PR client with a charity close to her heart.
Jane Hamilton, who still freelances for national newspapers in Scotland, will be providing PR consultancy for the SiMBA charity who help support parents who have suffered the loss of a child during pregnancy, through stillbirth or miscarriage.
SiMBA provide parents with ‘memory boxes’ – mementos such as footprints, birth acknowledgement certificates and, in some cases, photos of much-wanted babies. They also provide family rooms in maternity units across Scotland.
Jane, who will still continue her work as a crime/investigative journalist and who also does work for the Oranguatan Protection Society and Connect Cabs in Edinburgh, said: “I’m delighted to be joining SiMBA as the charity moves forward to a new and exciting phase. I will be handling all of SiMBAs media and public relations and look forward to working with them to ensure SiMBA takes its place on the national stage the leading charity supporting those who have suffered the loss of a precious child.
“I have personally experienced the loss of multiple pregnancies and at the time you did not get to see, touch or have precious moments with your child. I wish SiMBA had been around then.”
SiMBA director, Sara Fitzsimmons said: “Jane is a fantastic new addition to the SiMBA team and we are all very excited to have her on board. SiMBA is going through some very positive changes at the moment and we are looking forward to new challenges in the months ahead.”
