Soutar among speakers at Scots magazine festival

THE Scots chief executive of the publishers behind lifestyle magazines, ShortList and Stylist, is among the speakers at a magazine festival taking place in Glasgow.

Mike Soutar is speaking at the annual Magfest, being hosted by the Scottish division of the Professional Publishers Association.

This year’s event is themed around digital media and Soutar is expected to talk about his venture, Mr Hyde, which is described as the ‘in-the-know email for the cultured man’.

Says a PPA Scotland media release: “Launched in October 2012, Mr Hyde and its sister publication, Emerald Street, have built a combined following of over 150,000 daily subscribers. Mike will discuss how [his company] Shortlist Media developed the sites, how the idea evolved and their business case, how the sites have changed the company and their plans for the digital future of Shortlist Media.”

Also speaking are Jochem Wijnands and Kieran Meeke, about www.trvl.com; Cathy Ma, ex head of social media at IPC; and Nick Creed, digital director at Glasgow-based Carnyx Group.
