A FREELANCE columnist has been dropped by The Press and Journal after a claim that parts of her piece copied – relatively closely or word for word – chunks of a piece that originally appeared in The Guardian.
Following an investigation earlier today by the P&J editor, Damian Bates, a statement was issued, saying writer, Carly Fallon, would no longer be used by the paper. It read: “Obviously plagiarism – in any form – is totally unacceptable. I take this matter very seriously indeed and have decided that we will no longer be accepting columns from freelance writer, Carly Fallon.
“I’m deeply disappointed this situation has arisen and apologise for any upset this has caused anyone.”
The claim emerged this morning from the author of The Guardian piece, Stuart Heritage – as reported within the last hour on www.allmediascotland.com.
