Wanted: Editor, as MacKenzie steps down

ONE of the largest weekly newspapers in Scotland is seeking a new editor.

As advertised here on the allmediascotland.com jobs board, The Oban Times & West Highland Times is seeking a successor to Stewart MacKenzie, pictured, who is stepping down from a position he has held for nearly 13 years.

MacKenzie resigned as Wyvex Media’s editorial director following what the company describes as “a series of tragic family circumstances”.

The company quotes MacKenzie describing his time at the helm of The Oban Times and its three sister tabloids – the Argyllshire Advertiser, Campbeltown Courier and The Arran Banner – as “a privilege and an honour”.

He had worked with the company for 25 years, including producing The Oban Times’ 150th anniversary supplements, three years ago.
