Media Movers: Laura Coventry, Lisa Ferguson, etc

WELCOME to Media Movers, reporting the latest moves within the Scottish media, including promotions and retirements.

AND, firstly, congratulations to Laura Coventry, on her appointment at contract magazine publishers, Connect Communications.

Says a Connect announcement of Laura’s appointment as an account manager: “[She] has more than ten years’ experience in local and national newspapers, including The Evening Times, Daily Record, Sunday Mail and The Extra, as well as at No 1 magazine.

“Before joining Connect, Laura enjoyed a two-year stint as a marketing project manager at Scottish Water.”

THE Scotsman Publications photographer, Phil Wilkinson, goes freelance today (Jane Barlow did so yesterday), making him the last of the staff snappers at the group’s titles to switch status as part of a company-wide initiative to have pics provided mostly by freelancers.

But, as it happens, a couple of photographers on the Johnston Press weeklies roster have been named staff photographers for The Scotsman and its sister title, Scotland on Sunday: Lisa Ferguson will be based in Edinburgh and John Devlin in Glasgow.

AS reported on Tuesday, on allmediascotland.com, Gareth Rose has begun at the Scottish Daily Mail, as political reporter. He was before that home affairs correspondent at The Scotsman. His appointment was first noted, here, in January.

He has been succeeded at The Scotsman by Chris Marshall, who was previously education correspondent.
