Media Movers: Sarah Vesty, Suzy Powell, etc

WELCOME to Media Movers, reporting the latest moves within the Scottish media, including promotions and retirements.

FIRSTLY, we begin by congratulating Sarah Vesty, who has been taken on as a reporter at the Daily Record. Previously, she was a reporter at Deadline news agency in Edinburgh.

MEANWHILE, the media communications manager at the Law Society of Scotland is leaving, after 14 years with the organisation.

Suzy Powell is taking time out during the Summer, before she undertakes various PR contract work.

She works alongside fellow media comms manager at the Law Society of Scotland, Val McEwan.

Powell has calculated that, during her 14 years, she has dealt with at least five Home Affairs correspondents at The Scotsman newspaper.

AS already reported on allmediascotland.com, Peter Swindon has joined the Evening Times as group investigations reporter. He effectively succeeds David Leask, now the chief reporter at sister title, The Herald.

Swindon held a similar role at The Courier which was nominated for the Journalism Team prize at the Scottish Press Awards, earlier this year.

And Rebecca Gray has been appointed crime reporter, having previously been a general reporter.

And recently begun in post is recent former Daily Record reporter, Janice Burns, now the Evening Times’ chief reporter.
