Says STV: “Our anchorman [John MacKay] has been appointed as an Honorary Professor by Glasgow Caledonian University in recognition of his experience working at the forefront of Scottish media since the 1990s.
“John, who celebrated 20 years on air with STV in September last year has been central to our station’s coverage of the major news stories of the last two decades including the Lockerbie bombing, the opening of the Scottish Parliament and last year’s Scottish Referendum.”

THE Drum media and marketing magazine has been nominated in three categories in a wide-ranging media awards competition.
The British Media Awards, now in their fourth year, are organised by the insight strategy and market intelligence company, Briefing Media.
And the Glasgow-headquartered The Drum’s nominations are in the Editorial Campaign, Content Team and Event categories.
The winners will be announced on May 6.

ON the one hand, it’s an everyday tale of a public relations campaign, to promote a book.
And just how Paris Kiss, the debut novel of freelance journalist and PR consultant, Maggie Ritchie, has fared – when it comes to resulting media coverage – can be read here.
But on the other, as Maggie’s husband, Mike, writes, it’s not very often you are asked of the draft media release (the final version of which appeared here on allmediascotland): “Did you send over the news release, darling?”
That’s because Mike did the PR for Maggie whose novel was partly inspired by the couple’s honeymoon!

OVER the weekend, the Liverpool-based Scots photographer, Colin McPherson, is in Scotland, to cover a football match for the magazine, When Saturday Comes.
It’s his latest football commission in a fascination with the game that goes beyond earning a fee, as he explains in a pictorial essay on the website of a Scots photography collective.
Document Scotland came to prominence when it sought to capture the build-up to September’s vote on Scots independence.

AND widely reported: the former footballer-turned-pundit, Stan Collymore, has tweeted calling for a boycott by broadcasters of Rangers FC until there is a stop to sectarian singing by some of its fans.
And he has also tweeted that he has been “taken off” from being a TV pundit at a game this evening involving the Ibrox club.
