Writer Criticises STV for Opting Out of his Latest Drama

The writer of a TV drama being screened this evening has criticised STV for choosing not to show it while the rest of the ITV1 network will be.

In an interview with the Big Issue Scotland magazine, Anthony Horowitz is quoted saying: "I don't know what STV are playing at."

His comments came after the magazine broke the news to him that Collision, which is due to screen on five consecutive nights this week, will not be aired in Scotland.

He told the Big Issue Scotland: “It’s the first I’ve heard of it and I’m absolutely staggered. I know that money is tight but if you don’t show quality programming - and I can assure you Collision is high quality - you are going to drown, you are going to go under all together. I don’t know what STV are playing at.”

Recently, STV has been increasingly opting out of showing networked programmes, to save - it says - money and to screen more home-grown content.

The ITV website is even showing a clock ticking down to Collision's start time. STV is showing instead The Greatest Scot.
