Bald Truth Broadcast Invite Taken up by Beacom

His amusing writing about hair loss has seen him featured on the BBC’s The One Show and Women’s Hour and now Herald and Times showbiz writer, Brian Beacom, is set to appear on coast-to-coast American radio.

Beacom is author of 'Diary of a Hair Transplant: A Journalist’s Search for David Cassidy', in which he chronicles his own hair transplant experience and, now, he has been invited onto a weekly talk show, The Bald Truth, which broadcasts from Los Angeles and deals with the subject of hair loss and offers advice.

The two hour-long show broadcasts on Sunday nights, is presented by Spencer Kobren, and is syndicated nationally. It also goes out live on the internet. He'll be appearing a week on Sunday - the 29th.

Beacom told allmediascotland: “After I wrote the book - an attempt to write with humour about my hair loss obesession, and an account of my transplant at the Farjo Clinic in Manchester - I got some great publicity in the UK, especially in the Herald and The Evening Times.

“And then the likes of BBC’s The One Show and Women’s Hour picked up on it after actor, James Nesbitt, was seen to have had a hair transplant.

“These mentions in turn alerted Spencer, who is a world authority on hair loss; in fact, until his first book came out, the general public had no access to hair transplant information.

“He is keen to hear my take on how baldness is perceived in Scotland, how balding men here deal with hair loss and the sort of reaction a hair transplant can provoke - which can range from bemusement to utter disbelief."
