My top ten: Atholl Duncan, head of news and current affairs, BBC Scotland

MY Top Ten invites media practitioners to identify their top ten websites, apps, software tools and gadgets, etc, and here it is the turn of head of news and current affairs at BBC Scotland, Atholl Duncan.

1. BBC Scotland News – website – Simply Scotland’s biggest and best source of news.

2. Democracy Live – website – Recently-launched site which revolutionises our access to the political process.

3. Brian Taylor’s Blog – blog – Braces Brian’s blog. Best insight to Scottish politics. Always balance and insightful despite too many mentions of Dundee United.

4. Douglas Fraser’s Blog – blog – A new entry for me as a place to pick up insight on business and economics which you can’t get elsewhere from the BBC.

5. Robert Peston’s Blog – blog – Simply the best place to find out which Scottish bank is about to go bust.

6. BBC Editors – blog – A good way of explaining to the audience why we do what we do.

7. Hibs.Net – message board – The top site for Hibs gossip and often the place to find out what is new with the table-topping Hibees.

8. Lance Armstrong – Twitter – I follow Lance Armstrong here. This was the place that the Tour de France legend asked me and a few others to meet in Paisley High Street for a wee spin on the bike.

9. Harvard Business School – blogs – The best of global thought leadership blogging; I recommend ‘Inverted Widsom’, by Vineet Nayar, chief exec of Indian global tech company, HCL.

10. Tri247 - website – “The best for triathlon news and events info for people who like their pain to last a bit longer.”
