The Herald newspaper is to have a number of its news and feature articles sub-edited by the Press Association, in a deal that builds on a relationship that already involves the well-known press agency subbing the title's business pages.

In an announcement today, the Press Association said a new contract with the Herald & Times Group extends an existing agreement that sees it also provide pages of national and international news for The Herald's sister title, the Evening Times.

The Press Association has been providing outsourced page production to the newspaper and magazines industry for over 20 years, creating 9000 pages a week, across 220 titles.

The announcement also includes details of a subbing and layout deal struck with the London Evening Standard, including on its recruitment and entertainment pages.

Says Tony Watson, managing director of the Press Association: “We are delighted to have these prominent titles as customers of an increasingly important service for the industry. The deals are great examples of how our Pages service can be tailored to the different needs of newspaper titles. We offer the reassurance of pages produced with customers’ values, style and standards and, particularly important in the current economic climate, cost benefits made possible through economies of scale.”
