Top BBC Editor Headed for Radio Scotland

BBC Radio Scotland has secured one of the top editors from the Today programme to lead its news flagship, Good Morning Scotland.

Nicolai Gentchev will take up a six-month secondment to Scotland in the next couple of weeks. He has been one of the senior editors on Radio Four's Today programme for the past two years.

He replaces Phil Wells who has himself taken up a secondment as an editor on BBC Radio 5 live Drive.

Nicolai has a Glasgow connection. He studied at Glasgow University for four years and lived in the city's west end for a while.

Says Head of News and Current Affairs at BBC Scotland, Atholl Duncan: "Our aim is to create an outstanding news team at BBC Scotland. Bringing top broadcasting talent like Nicolai to our Pacific Quay newsroom is a great boost to our plans to improve our news services right across radio, television and online."
