Caledonian Mercury Takes its Place on the Virtual Newsstand

The former editor of scotsman.com, Stewart Kirkpatrick, has proven as good as his word: he has launched a newspaper, as promised in his allmediascotland.com blog of three weeks ago.

But 'Caledonian Mercury' is to be mostly online with a print spin-off due in around three months' time.

This afternoon, hear Kirkpatrick and fellow project director, Tony Purcell, speak about Caledonian Mercury, in the latest allmediascotland podcast.

Read Stewart's account of the last hours before launch, in his latest allmediascotland blog.

Read Severin Carrell's big feature on the 'Caley Merc' in today's Guardian, here.
