A show made in Scotland and being broadcast for the first time today - on the new digital radio station, BBC Radio 4 Extra - has been previewed as proof that "good programmes don't all come from London".

The 4 O'Clock Show is described as "a new daily, all-the-family, after school show".

And, says The Telegraph's radio critic, Gillian Reynolds, it represents "the first time in decades that radio has managed to talk to young listeners in a way that’s not condescending or TV shouty".

And she goes on to say: "Made in Glasgow, by a new BBC unit out to prove good programmes don’t all come from London."

The 'new unit' being referred to is led by senior producer, Elizabeth Clark who runs BBC Radio Scotland's overnight and online 'Zones' programming.
