Media Release: Add a little ‘bling’ to your home this Christmas

PEOPLE across Scotland are set to dazzle their friends and family this Christmas following the launch of this year’s ‘housebling’ – the easy way to ‘bling’ your home without leaving your armchair.

Back for the third year running, Shelter Scotland’s housebling website takes away all the hard work by letting you ‘bling up’ your home from any location using Google Street View.

Since its launch, almost 60,000 people have visited the website to bedazzle their homes, offices and famous landmarks.

Those who want to spread some festive cheer can log on to www.housebling.org.uk, enter any UK postcode and begin a glittering transformation using a variety of festive trimmings including flashing lights, colourful wreaths and atmospheric snowfall settings.

Once completed, you can save the picture, add a personalised seasonal message, and email it on to everyone on your Christmas card list – all from the comfort of your living room.

All the charity asks in return is a donation to help raise money for their vital work helping thousands of people struggling to keep a roof over their head this Christmas.

Graeme Brown, director of Shelter Scotland, said:

“Housebling is a fun way to send some seasonal cheer to friends and family this Christmas. At the click of a button you can transform your home for the festive season without any of the hard work.

“Not only will you have lots of fun giving your home a makeover, but you will help make a vital difference to people at risk of homelessness this Christmas. Every two minutes, someone in this country faces the trauma of losing their home but Shelter Scotland is here to stop things spiralling out of control.”

Housebling is available online at www.housebling.org.uk.
