Metro to Make First-time Appearance in Aberdeen

The free, weekday newspaper, The Metro – available currently on buses and at rail stations in the likes of Glasgow and Edinburgh – is now to be circulated in Aberdeen.

Say publishers, Trinity Mirror, the Scottish Metro will be distributed for the first time in the Aberdeen area, with an initial run of 5,000 copies being made available through Aberdeen, Stonehaven and Dyce railway stations and through the main city bus depot and bus routes.

It starts on Monday.

Say the publishers: “The Metro has gone from strength to strength following its successful 1999 launch into Central Scotland (including the Glasgow and Edinburgh commuter areas), to cover Dundee & Perth from 2007 and now the Aberdeen area.

“With 128,000 copies* now being distributed and a current average daily readership of 292,000, Metro is Scotland’s biggest free daily newspaper. On a daily basis (Monday to Friday) it has more audited copies than the three regional evening titles serving Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dundee combined.”

A Trinity Mirror statement quotes Denise West, commercial director of Trinity Mirror's Scottish Operation, Media Scotland, as saying: “It’s excellent to be able to extend Metro into Aberdeen. It’s often the first media hit of the day for our readers and it allows advertisers to instantly connect with young, affluent commuters who work and play in Scotland’s four main cities. We can now offer an unrivalled daily audience of over one million readers across Scotland through our new Daily Record and Metro package.”
