Diary of a journalism post-grad, chapter five

WHAT a week! Have been holed up in a conference centre for the past four days having intensive lectures on the structure of UK government.

Everything you could possibly want to know and more, plus a few exams thrown in for good measure.

Yesterday was probably the first multiple choice paper I’ve ever sat and I found it quite unnerving. I only needed to get 50 per cent, and I think I managed it. Just.

Thankfully, it’s all over now and just as well. It’s the first time the university has taught the course in this way and it sort of showed. Not least, there were no desks in the building – a small point, but important when you are trying to write shorthand at 70 words a minute.

To add to my misery I went to watch Arsenal play in the Champions League.
