MSPs to be debate future of Scottish media

THE future of the Scottish media is to be be debated, Question Time-style, by representatives from the main political parties.

Lib-Dem MSP, Robert Brown, is to be joined by fellow MSPs, Stewart Maxwell, from the SNP, and Bill Aitken, from the Tories, at a Scottish Media Forum being organised by the media and marketing magazine, The Drum.

The organisers say that Labour has assured they’ll be sending someone too.

The event – taking place in Glasgow a week on Friday is to involve speakers from Emap, Microsoft, BBC, stv, Ofcom and the Radio Advertising Bureau.

The MSPs are appearing at a breakfast event, starting at 8am. At 9am, the forum is formally launched by chair, Jim Chisholm, from the World Association of Newspapers.

Speakers immediately thereafter are Paul Keenan, of Emap, Bobby Hain, of stv, and Ofcom’s Alan Stewart.
