New Scottish post at PA

NEWS agency, The Press Association, has promoted its chief reporter in Scotland to the newy-created post of deputy editor for Scotland.

The agency says the new post being awarded to Victoria Mitchell has been created to “reflect the increasing importance of multi-media in Scotland”.

The agency adds: “In her new position, Victoria will be working to expand the role of video journalists in Scotland and develop new opportunities for the multi-media team. Additionally, she will continue with her news reporting duties and will assist the editor of The Scottish Press Association, Iain Duff, in running the Glasgow newsdesk.”

Victoria has been chief reporter for three years, having, the year before, joined the agency as a general reporter. Before PA, she worked on a number of Scottish titles including the Sunday Mail, Daily Record and The Herald, as a news reporter. She started her career in journalism ten years ago when she joined her local paper, the Wishaw Press, as a cub reporter.

As well as in Scotland, she has reported from has reported from Iraq, Sri Lanka and Turkana, in Kenya.
