Glasgow conference to examine local media

JUST how distinctive is local media across the UK? And are non-metropolitan media still viable? These are two of the many questions likely to be asked at a conference to be addressed by, among others, The Herald editor, Charles McGhee.

Also among the speakers at ‘Media and nations’, next month, will be Professors Kevin Williams, University of Swansea; Howard Tumber, City University, London; Farrel Corcoran, Dublin City University; Martin McLoone, University of Ulster; and Sylvia Harvey, of the University of Lincoln.

The conference is being hosted by the University of Glasgow, and takes place on Friday June 13.

It coincides with the publication of ‘The media in Scotland’, edited by Neil Blain and David Hutchison.
