Stanistreet elected NUJ deputy general-secretary

THE recent past president of the National Union of Journalists has been elected its deputy general-secretary.

Michelle Stanistreet polled 2,936 votes in what was to prove a two-horse race, against Freelance organiser, John Toner.

The count, announced on Friday, was revealed as follows:

Phillip Hunt: 280
Michelle Stanistreet: 2,936
John Toner: 1,392
Chris Youett: 225

In total, that represents a 16 per cent return on ballot papers issued.
