Flanagan appointed chief exec of NSPCC

LEADING children’s charity, the NSPCC, has appointed a former chief executive of the owners of stv as its new head.

Andrew Flanagan spent ten years as chief executive of the Scottish Media Group where he also held the post of group finance director.

His previous roles have included senior positions at PA Consulting, IT and Telecoms company, Nynex, professional services firm, Pricewaterhouse Coopers and ITT Europe. He is currently chair of Heritage House, a privately-held publishing investment company.

Says NSPCC chair, Sir Christopher Kelly: “We are delighted Andrew is joining us. He has an impressive business track record and a range of experience covering media, telecoms, finance and IT.

“He has shown significant skill in managing large organisations through periods of change. In today’s challenging times I am confident he will continue to build on the NSPCC’s proud history of helping vulnerable children.”

NSPCC funds the telephone helpline, ChildLine, which in Scotland is run by Children 1st.
