These are challenging times for the Scottish newspaper industry. Perhaps, even, unprecedented. There was certainly a pretty liberal use of the U-word in yesterday’s Herald, the ‘splash’ referring to an “unprecedented backlash” from the Dunfermline Building Society’s board and the second story of the day noting “unprecedented calls” by chief constables for a debate on a single Scotish police force.
And there was more. The intro on the page three lead has artist, Peter Howson, speaking of his delight at – you guessed it – an “unprecedented collaboration” between himself and the newspaper.
