Self to Assist at Jura Retreat Book Launch

The writer and broadcaster, Will Self, is making an appearance in Edinburgh next week – to help launch a book comprising work from a writer’s retreat on the Isle of Jura. And has five free pairs of tickets to give away.

The launch of Spirit of Jura will also be attended by writers, Janice Galloway and John Burnside. The retreat is funded by the local, Jura Malt Whisky company and was inspired by George Orwell’s penning of ‘1984’ on the Hebridean island over 60 years ago.

Say the organisers of the launch: “Jura Malt Whisky is proud to keep the [Orwell] tradition alive by offering authors much needed time and space to spend a whole month at the exquisite Jura Lodge.”

The launch is being done in association with the Scottish Book Trust.
