What you would do

Working as part of the Corporate Press team and reporting to the Head of Communications, you will be responsible for the creation and development of strong and effective corporate media relations strategies to the advantage of VisitScotland and the industry.

This will involve maintaining excellent relationships with the Scottish national, regional and relevant trade media and working with the team to deliver proactive, positive media activity to enhance and protect VisitScotland’s corporate reputation.

This activity will be tailored to raise awareness of VisitScotland’s activities and key corporate messages, creating a supportive climate with key stakeholders including tourism businesses, private and public sector partners and the general public which will help VisitScotland deliver its aims and objectives. You will also liaise closely with the CEO and Chair around communication issues, both proactively and reactively.

You are also responsible for managing a team of six press officers effectively.

What you would need to have

* Experience in managing a team to deliver results is essential

* Graduate calibre, or equivalent relating to journalism, communications.

* The jobholder must have significant experience in a press office or PR agency at manager level with a major organisation or company.

* A background in journalism or media relations management is essential for this job, as is the ability to prioritise work in a demanding and often changing environment.

* The jobholder must have a ‘highly tuned nose’ for news and must champion a news aware organisation.

* Excellent writing and verbal skills are required and awareness of the wider corporate goals of the organisation is essential.
