Davidson ‘gracious’ in her acceptance of ‘bollocks’ award

MOST journalists have done it – produced a piece that has proven a tad embarrassing – but not everyone is able to cheerfully accept an award highlighting it.

So, nice one, Lorraine Davidson, the latest recipient of the Tartan Bollocks, awarded by the Scottish Political Journalists’ Association, at their annual, Christmas knees-up.

Davidson – who joins an illustrious cast list, including Douglas Fraser, Campbell Gunn and Paul Hutcheon – is reported to have accepted the award with, said an insider, “a very gracious speech”.

And the story for which she won the award? A tale in the Times saying that Lockerbie bomber, Abdul Baset Ali al-Megrahi, was not being returned to Libya, because Scottish justice secretary, Kenny MacAskill, had apparently ‘given in’ to pressure from the USA.

Er…
