A LEADING occupational health company has exceeded job creation expectations at its new state-of-the-art medical centre in Aberdeen.

It was originally anticipated that the flagship remote care medical centre at Dyce would result in 17 new jobs. However, strong interest in and demand for services have resulted in some 36 members of staff being appointed since the facility opened its doors to service users in July.

They join director of remote medical care, Dr Olgha Asatiani (MD, Adv Dip Occ Med), and commercial manager, Mhari Mitchell BA (Hons.), who were appointed earlier in the year to head up the team at the brand-new clinic.

The 4,157 sq. m. remote care medical centre (RCMC) heralds a new era in remote care for the oil and gas industry and is Aberdeen’s first and only of this kind.

Located close to Aberdeen’s airport and heliports, the centre was developed at a cost of more than £1 million and complements RS Occupational Health’s existing services in Aberdeen.

The RCMC enables the company to provide comprehensive topside and emergency medical support to the offshore sector.

It is fully staffed round the clock, 365 days a year with clinical personnel all of whom are highly experienced in remote medicine, A&E or trauma and have a thorough understanding of the offshore industry.

Commenting on the ongoing success of the RCMC, Dr Olgha Asatiani said: “Ensuring we have in place staff of the highest calibre is central to what we do. This is crucial to our ability to deliver the full spectrum of services at a consistently high standard thus ensuring we meet the evolving needs of our growing number of clients.”

Mhari Mitchell added: “We are already experiencing strong and growing demand for services offered at the RCMC and this is especially welcome during the current difficult trading conditions experienced by many.”

RS Occupational Health was established in 1999 by Fiona Willis and Dr Andrew Goodge, and is now owned by Houston-based DISA Global Solutions.

In addition to headquarters in Aberdeen, the company also operates from clinics in Inverness and Great Yarmouth and deals with clients in a range of sectors including oil and gas, commercial, engineering, manufacturing and the public sector.
