Media release: Glasgow athletes dominate the Scottish Indoor Ski Championships

GLASGOW athletes, Zak Vinter and Nicole Ritchie, yet again demonstrated their phenomenal ability on the slope by grabbing golds at the 2019 Scottish Indoor Ski Championships in Glasgow at the weekend.

British World Championship racer, Vinter, displayed an exceptional result as the only Scot on the Overall podium.

Vinter sat comfortably as the fastest skier on two out of two runs, winning the Men’s Overall title by almost three-quarters of a second quicker than the second racer. Ross Nesbit and Adam Hall joined Vinter on the Scottish podium in finishing fourth and fifth.

Much the same as Vinter, Ritchie took a firm lead on both runs in the girls’ race, taking a six-tenths of a second lead out of the rest of the competition on run one. Holly McKey and Robyn Walker joined Ritchie on the Scottish podium.

As if this brilliant result wasn’t enough, Ritchie also took first place for the ladies at the BSA GBR Indoor 3 championships.

This will be her third win out of three in this year’s GBR series as she took first place at Chill factor, Manchester last month. There are still two races within this series to come and Ritchie stands as the current leader.

Pleased with her result, Ritchie said: “With the competition getting tougher year on year I am delighted to have kept this title. The support I have received from QTS and Pinnacle Sports Group makes such a difference to my performance as it helps me with my training and get me to my competitions.”

Director of Pinnacle Sports Group, James Sheehan, said: “When I saw the results this weekend, it made me proud to have been able to provide some support both to Zak and Nicole. The results speak for themselves as it demonstrates the necessities of sponsorship to create a winning performance.”
