Macmillan Media and Record extend video and online deal

A VIDEO deal between the producers of the Scottish news opt-out on morning TV programme, GMTV, and the Daily Record has been extended.

Macmillan Media has extended its agreement to provide video content and news packages to the online edition of the newspaper.

Best-known for producing GMTV’s regional news bulletins in both Scotland and Northern Ireland, Macmillan Media has been supplying the Trinity Mirror-owned website with multimedia material for the last two years.

Founded by former BBC foreign correspondent Michael Macmillan, the company – which has offices in Glasgow – is one of the few providers in the UK to be involved in both broadcast, video production and online content.

Says news editor, Catherine Brown: “This deal builds on our existing successful relationship with Trinity Mirror.

“We’ve supplied hundreds of videos to DailyRecord.co.uk over the past year and the extension of our syndication agreement for another 12 months is testament to the quality of our productions.”

Added Daily Record digital editor, Iain Hepburn: “We’re delighted to extend our very successful partnership with Macmillan Media for another 12 months. With our successful video and audio packages and podcasts racking up in excess of one million plays a month, multimedia content is a key driver for the ongoing success of DailyRecord.co.uk.

“As such, developing partnerships with Scotland’s best news video providers, such as Macmillan Media, is vital to continuing our growth.”
