Media Release: abica wins ‘excellence in customer service’ at the Glasgow Business Awards 2009

ABICA, the business telecoms specialist, has won the prestigious ‘Excellence in Customer Service’ accolade at this month’s Glasgow Business Awards.

The award runs in the face of the received wisdom that the telecom industry has a poor record for customer service. abica, however, appears to be bucking the trend, with 96 per cent of its customers recording their satisfaction with the company’s service – in a recent survey.

Joint managing director and co-founder, Gregory Barnett, said: “We are delighted to win this award as service is something we are incredibly passionate about. The telecoms market has a negative reputation for service but we are proof that excellent service is available to customers. With our dedicated account managers, customers always talk to a person and never a machine.”

Commitment to customer service has helped abica win and retain customers in the middle of a recession; in the last 12 months, for example, the company has doubled the size of its customer base.

The awards, held in Glasgow’s Crown Plaza Hotel on 8 October 2009 saw abica succeed against two highly respected organisations in the final, John Lewis Partnership and Glasgow Housing Association.

In addition, abica has already enjoyed some well-earned recognition when it was recently named in Scottish Business Insider Magazine’s Sprint 100 list, which details the fastest growing small companies in Scotland. abica has grown its turnover by 51 per cent in the last three years and this outstanding performance saw it reach number 39 in the line up. The company, which was established in 2000, sets itself apart by its stance as the only business-to-business telecoms provider in the market.

“We are an ambitious company and we aim to become the best telecoms provider in the UK for small and medium sized businesses. This award really underlines our commitment to being the best and we hope it is the first of many,” added David Munro, joint managing director and co-founder.
