Media Release: Safety Hub really does do what’s BEST

SINCE its inception in the summer of 2010, The Safety Hub have trained over 500 offshore workers in their flagship course, Basic Environmental Skills Training, or BEST, as it has become known.

The original course was geared at environmental representatives working with oil and gas operators and highlights key legislative requirements alongside skills to help enable reps to effectively communicate with their co-workers on environmental issues.

In line with the 2012 target to develop their environmental division, Safety Hub have this week announced the launch of a new BEST course focusing on the environmental impacts of drilling activities, BEST Drilling.

The launch coincides with heightened drilling activity in the North Sea and an industry need for their workforce to understand the environmental consequences of their activities.

Explained Jill Rennie, Environment Course director at Safety Hub: “We are delighted with the success of BEST and had always intended to develop the existing course into a suite of specialised courses for different levels in the organisation and for specific skill sets.

“We pride ourselves by responding quickly and effectively to what our customers tell us they need. We are seeing increased numbers of delegates from drilling operations so felt this was the perfect time to respond to industry demand.”

‘BEST Drilling’ is an one-day course aimed at operator drilling reps, offshore HSE advisors on drilling rigs and anyone with responsibility for environmental management within a drilling contractor.
