WITH a face for telly, a beauty queen is to co-present a show on radio, not least – says her soon-to-be-employers – because of “hundreds of calls and texts” to the programme director.
Yesterday, Nic McLean, who is both Miss Scotland and Miss UK, co-hosted Clyde 1’s breakfast show and will be doing so full-time from the 11th of next month, alongside regular host, George Bowie.
Her elevation follows appearing as a guest for a week last month and Bowie – apparently “inundated with calls and texts from listeners” – taking the unprecedented step of giving out, on air, the mobile telephone number of programme director, Gordon Davidson.
Effectively, Bowie was saying: “Don’t tell me, tell him how good she is.” Hence, the ensuing “hundreds of calls and texts”.
The programme is broadcast between 6am and 9am, on 102.5FM.
