Honours even at euro film awards

IT was pretty much honours even between German movie, The Lives of Others, and its Spanish rival, Volver, for the prizes at this year’s European film awards, hosted by the European Film Academy.

But UK interest was nevertheless present, not least in the shape of Manchester-born Barry Ackroyd, chosen as joint winner of the European cinematographer title, for his work on The Wind that Shakes the Barley.
