SCOTLAND’S newest radio station, the all-speech talk107 – serving Edinburgh, Fife and the Lothians – does not even enjoy an one per cent share of its possible audience, according to figures released this morning.
Launched in February, these are the first RAJAR quarterly figures it has received, and, between April 1 and June 30, its share of listeners in the area it serves was just 0.2 per cent – or just 16,000 adults among the Edinburgh, Fife and Lothians population listening in for at least five minutes per week.
It wasn’t the best of quarters either for BBC Scotland, but that time of the year tends not to be the best-performing for the station, usually because of the ending of the football season, which delivers a big audience. So, while it enjoyed an 8.3 per cent share in Q1, its Q2 figure was 7.4 per cent. Its reach into Scotland’s adult population was also down: from 1.04million to 927,000.
The other share figures read: Radio Borders (39.9 per cent, up one per cent), Central FM (8.4 per cent, no change), Clyde 1 FM (16.6. per cent, up 0.3), Clyde 2 (8.7, up 0.6), Forth One (15.5, up 1.4), Forth2 (4.5, up 2.3), Kingdom FM (12.7, up 0.6), Moray Firth Radio (25.7, up 0.7), Northsound One (18.9, down 1.7), Northsound Two (9.0, down 0.7), Q96 (2.8, up 0.5), Real Radio (Scotland) 15.5 (down 0.9), River FM (4.8, up 0.1), Saga 105.2 FM (6.7, up 0.4), Tay-FM (32.3, up 0.2), Radio Tay-AM (16.5, up 1.3), Wave 102 FM (11.2, up 0.6), West Sound (24.3, down 2.1), XFM Scotland (East) (4.2, down 0.3), and XFM Scotland (West) (4.3, down 0.8).
