Online opportunity on offer to comment during televised leaders’ debate

THE first of three televised debates involving the leaders of the three main political parties in the UK – being screened tonight – is to be also streamed live, on the internet, to allow people the opportunity to comment as the discussion unfolds.

STV is broadcasting the clash – between Labour leader, Gordon Brown, the Tories’ David Cameron and Nick Clegg, from the Lib Dems – from 8.30pm.

But an online streaming of the event – on stv.tv/debate – provides the chance to comment in an interactive forum.

Says STV’s digital news editor, Matt Roper: “The STV political team will provide online commentary, bringing to life the Scottish context of the debate questions, while our online team will highlight the key quotes and the best of the debate analysis from across the web.”

After the debate, STV’s political team will be giving instant reaction as the verdicts come in.
