Davidson elected new leader of Scottish Tories

FORMER BBC journalist, Ruth Davidson, has been elected the new leader of the Scottish Conservatives.

The 32 year-old beat of the challenges from three rivals for the post, following the stepping down of Annabel Goldie, including deputy leader, Murdo Fraser.

She only became a MSP in May this year, elected as a Glasgow list MSP for the Conservatives.

Her closest rival, Fraser, had pledged to revamp the Scottish Tories, with a new name to attract supporters of ‘progressive, centre-right politics’ who find the Scottish Tories brand, ‘toxic’.
