Brain damage concerns prompt donation decision by Beattie

THE BBC Radio Scotland presenter and former Scotland rugby international, John Beattie, is to donate his brain to medical science, when he dies, following concerns about the impact on people’s brains from playing contact sports.

He is also to undergo a brain scan, within the next few months.

Ahead of him presenting a programme on the subject on BBC Radio Scotland at 2pm today, he is reported in several papers speaking of the bumps he experienced while playing and how he feels when he watches his children play sport, both at a high level (rugby and football).
