MacAulay raises £15,000 for STV charity

THE comedian and BBC Radio Scotland presenter, Fred MacAulay, has raised £15,000 for the charity run by STV.

MacAulay walked the West Highland Way in aid of the STV Appeal 2012, which is dedicated to alleviating poverty among young people in Scotland and receives £-for-£ match-funding from the Scottish Government.

During the six days of his trek along the 96-mile Milngavie to Fort William route, he was joined by, among others, STV news anchor, John MacKay, plus Hue and Cry’s Pat and Greg Kane; singer and actress, Clare Grogan; and chef, Nick Nairn.

Says a STV media release: “And as if that wasn’t enough of a challenge, after each day’s trek, Fred performed a comedy gig for locals on his West Highland Wahey experience.”

MacAulay completed the walk on Saturday. Donations can still be sent to the appeal, here.
