BBC Scotland’s Miller a winner for Edinburgh Trams tale

A BBC Scotland investigation about the Edinburgh Trams project – which is widely recognised as having been a fiasco – has secured a prize for its reporter.

David Miller was last night named Transport Journalist of the Year at the annual awards run by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.

It was for ‘BBC Scotland Investigates: The Great Tram Disaster’.

The programme was produced by Craig Williams and filmed by Peter Cole. Miller is both transport and environment correspondent at BBC Scotland.

Said the judges: “David Miller’s comprehensive programme for BBC Scotland on ‘The Great Tram Disaster’ is an admirable piece of journalism which tells the story of the aspirations and travails of the ambitious, but failing, process of reintroducing a tram network in Edinburgh.

“David’s programme displays deep research, clarity of presentation, impact and style, and would provide a valuable lesson for local authorities and contractors embarking on a similar major project.”
