Your Noon Briefing: Entries invited for marketing awards, BBC Scotland announce drama commission, etc

A COMPETITION celebrating the best of marketing has issued a call for entries.

The deadline for entries to the UK-wide competition, being run by The Drum media and marketing magazine, is January 30, with the winners to be announced in May.

THE representative body for community radio stations has suggested that a misunderstanding may be behind why so many stations are being investigated by the broadcasting regulators, Ofcom.

The Community Media Association was responding to news the other day – noted here on allmediascotland –  that over 50 stations, among them some Scots ones – are being investigated by Ofcom regarding their ‘key commitments’ compliance.

And, suggests the CMA’s operations manager, there might be an issue with the completing of a form.

BEGINS an announcement issued by BBC Scotland: “A major new four-part drama, One of Us, written by The Missing writers, Jack and Harry Williams, has been commissioned by BBC One through BBC Scotland for production in Scotland next year.

“Produced by BBC Drama In-House Production through BBC Scotland in association with Two Brothers Pictures, the 4×60 drama series is a modern thriller set in the Highlands of Scotland and Edinburgh, highlighting the BBC’s commitment to drama in Scotland.”

BEGINS a media release posted on allmediascotland.com by the PR agency, The BIG Partnership: “A new training programme being launched by The Bauer Academy will remove social, economic and geographical barriers to provide young people with media skills and training and access to arts.

“Supported by Creative Scotland Cashback for Creativity funding, Bauer Academy’s new ‘Be Somebody’ project will deliver a combination of media courses and community projects to individuals across Scotland, with applications open now and the project starting in the New Year.”
