Your Noon Briefing: Photojournalism exhibitions, Cello Group, etc

TWO exhibitions, each celebrating photojournalism, are being staged in Edinburgh.

From today until the 22nd of next month, the World Press Photo exhibition is taking place at the Scottish Parliament building.

Also at the Parliament building is an exhibition of the work of Hungarian-born photojournalist, Michael Peto.

AN assistant news editor at the Daily Record is the subject of an interview, by the media intelligence company, Gorkana.

The interview with David McCann carries the standfirst: “David McCann, assistant news editor at the Daily Record, on searching for that jaw-dropping story, exclusives being king and his tumultuous relationship with PRs.”

TODAY’S edition of The Press and Journal newspaper is offering a £1,000 reward to anyone who can provide information that leads to the arrest and capture of a thief.

It follows the theft of a wallet – and several hundreds of pounds – from a 71 year-old pensioner who was lying injured in an Aberdeen street.

Says The Press and Journal editor-in-chief, Damian Bates: “Every right-minded person will be utterly appalled by this. If the P&J can help in some small way to catch the culprit then we’ll do everything in our power to do so. A reward seems a small price to pay to bring the person responsible to justice.”

BEGINS The Herald’s Greig Cameron: “Marketing and communications specialist, Cello Group, has said its half-year revenue will show strong growth mainly thanks to its health division.

“The AIM-listed company confirmed operating profits for the first six months of the year would be slightly lower than in 2014 as a result of previously flagged fall at its Signal arm relating to the timings of contracts and staff investment.

“The consumer facing Signal unit employs around 180 in Scotland, through The Leith Agency, Blonde Digital and Stripe Communications.”

AND begins The Drum media and marketing magazine: “Whyte & Mackay is revamping its marketing strategy to push a new brand proposition after hiring communications agency BJL to lead the shift.

“The campaign launches later this year when it will introduce a refreshed label and pack design for the Scotch whisky brand.

“BJL is tasked with building on a strategy that has asked consumers to reassess their perceptions of blended whisky in order to appeal to a broader, younger palette of drinker.”
