Media job: Sports editor, The Press and Journal

CLOSING DATE: September 29, 2017

SPORT is a results-based business…

So is The Press and Journal, where we continue to be the best-selling quality daily in Scotland and biggest regional newspaper in the UK.

We are seeking a SPORTS EDITOR

You will play a key role in maintaining this success, while helping to lead us into a new era.

As sports editor, you will mastermind our sports coverage across six distinct editions covering the Highlands and north-east of Scotland – and on our fast-paced, competitive website.

Based in Aberdeen, you will lead and co-ordinate our extensive staff and freelance coverage.

Football and golf play a major part in our readers’ lives – we boast some of the best golf courses in the world and have played host to the Scottish Open in Inverness and Aberdeen in recent years.

The resurgence of Aberdeen FC and continuing rivalry between Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Ross County in the Highlands are vitally important.

We are also proud of our long and successful relationship with the Highland League as sponsors, and our innovative online match coverage.

The successful candidate will also ensure that other sports that have a keen reader following are developed – and that Scottish, UK and international sports events still play an important part in our line-up.

We are looking for an experienced sports journalist with a proven track record of breaking important stories, building great contacts and excellent leadership skills.

You will enjoy a competitive salary, contributory pension scheme, healthcare cash plan and a generous holiday allowance.
