DC Thomson is a privately-owned family business currently undertaking a significant transformation programme to deliver a scalable media company, driven by technology, data, and talent. People are at the heart of everything we do and building audiences into long lasting, loyal communities is a key priority over the next five years.

We have an exciting portfolio of media brands – including The Stylist Group and Puzzler Media – as well as communities in energy, local and national news, women’s and children’s magazines, lifestyle, teaching, crafts, and sport. An opportunity has arisen for a sub-editor within our Consumer Magazines team working across The People’s Friend, This England and Evergreen portfolio of titles.

Key responsibilities:

This role will involve overseeing all aspects of production – sub-editing content with meticulous attention to detail, creating compelling display lines, liaising with journalists and having a thorough working knowledge of the titles’ publishing systems.

It includes working to agreed production schedules, proofreading articles while ensuring all stories are accurate and meet legal requirements.

Knowledge, qualifications, skills and experience:

The ideal candidate will be proactive and disciplined with a thorough understanding of grammar and punctuation, a flair for language, and will thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure working environment.

You will hold a relevant degree or equivalent, with an awareness of copyright law and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

This is a full-time, permanent position, working 35 hours per week. This is a hybrid role offering a blend of home and office working from our office in Dundee. We offer a generous package including 34 days holiday, health cash plan, on-site staff gym, excellent pension, a competitive salary, and many more staff discounts and benefits.
